Lent 2021
To all in our school community,
Lent 2021
Lent is certainly different for us this year. Ash Wednesday is a time when we are marked as Christians by the sign of the Cross and it also marks the beginning of Lent. The season of Lent prepares us for Easter. Sadly, this year we have not been able to gather as a community in our school and churches and we pray that we may be able to worship together soon. Meanwhile, the message of Lent remains.... to prepare and return to God.
Prayer, Fasting and Charity are the pillars of how we prepare as Christians during Lent. Why bother to do these things? What does it achieve? Could it pave the way for a return to God? A time to ask how am I with God and who is Jesus Christ to me in my life? Lent can be a reflective, hopeful and renewing time. It reminds us of our calling to be of service to one another and in turn can help strengthen our relationship with God.
We are told that as human beings, we are made in the image and likeness of God. We are reflections of the glory of God. This Lent let us prepare for the return to this hope and assurance as Christians.
The MSC's and The Cork and Ross Diocese have a list of talks, reflections and services on their websites for this season of Lent.
God bless,
Niamh
