Covid-19 Letter To Parents

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

During the period of the schools closure we will be using our virtual learning platform, Schoolwise, to ensure that our students learning continues. Schoolwise can be accessed by going to our new school website: www.ccn.ie, going to the parents tab and selecting the Schoolwise option. Students have their own username and password. Please remember that the username is the students unique student number @ccn.ie e.g. 13-0045@ccn.ie. If you have any difficulty in logging on please email info@ccn.ie which is regularly monitored and we will endeavour to get back to you as quickly as possible.

This platform allows teachers to share materials, leave work, provide solutions and give feedback and remain in contact with their students. Students can also message their teachers and ask questions and seek guidance where necessary.

We realise that this is a very challenging time and is far from ideal however we are well placed to deal with the difficulties ahead. It can be difficult for some students to work independently, below are some tips that may help:

1.     Students should log on every morning to Schoolwise and stay connected during the day so that they can keep on top of work posted by their teachers.

2.     Try, in so far as possible, to replicate the school day. This may include wearing your uniform to get you into the right frame of mind.

3.     Moving to the next subject after 40 mins, taking regular breaks and ensuring you do a little work in each of your timetabled subjects, for that day, will help students to stay on track.

4.     6th year students should also check their MSTeams calendar for any online meetings. They received a tutorial on how Teams works on Thursday.

5.     This is a particularly tough time for those students sitting the State Examinations in May. Remembering to be kind to each other and regular encouragement will be important in keeping students motivated and working through these difficult weeks. A cup of tea and a piece of chocolate can go along way!!

Finally, we will let exam students know any information that we have about Orals and Practicals as soon as we are informed by the State Examinations Commission.

Wishing you all well, stay safe and healthy,
