Letter 1/11/2020

Dear parents,

We hope that the students had a restful and enjoyable mid- term break, have recharged their batteries and are ready to engage with their work when we return on Monday. Before the start of the new term, we would like to bring your attention to the following:

Hand sanitiser

Once again apologies for having to close the school on Friday 23rd October as a result of the product recall notice on ViraPro hand sanitiser. We have sourced a new product that, thankfully, is not on the latest recall notice. It is a product called Sterile C053 (PCS 9990 ) and has been approved by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.

Lunch breaks

Before we begin the new term I would ask that you impress upon your child the importance of social distancing and of wearing a face covering during their lunch breaks. This is particularly important as poor weather will mean that students will be inside more frequently during their breaks. We know that this is very hard for students and goes against their nature but, as we are all aware, Covid spreads when people are in close proximity to each other without wearing a face covering.

School canteen.

It is hoped that the school canteen will open on Thursday 5th November and will serve hot and cold lunches. As the canteen is currently being used as a classroom the food will be delivered to the social areas at break times. In previous correspondence, we explained that there will be a new system of cashless payment. Please click here for information on how the system will work. In order for this to work, students need to purchase a card at a cost of €5. These cards will be sold on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

School calendar

The school calendar is now available here. It will not be possible to hold parent teacher meetings under the current Covid restrictions. However, we will provide you with updates on how your child is progressing during the year and we will be in contact with you in due course in relation to this.

New VSware App

You will have received a text explaining that we are introducing our VSware App to parents.  All notifications from the school will be sent via this app and it will, also allow you to explain student absences and thus negate the need for notes. We encourage you to download this app as soon as is convenient.  If you have any difficulties or questions please email Emma at info@ccn.ie.

School Uniform

In order to prevent the spread of Covid all classroom windows and doors are open during the day. Obviously, this means that the school is colder than we would like. Students should layer up when they are feeling cold. This is not a license for students to wear what they like.  They must wear their complete uniform. They can wear the school half zip over their school jumpers and if necessary wear coats over their half zips. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

We look forward to a productive and busy term. As always, we appreciate your cooperation and support during these ‘abnormal’ times.
