Leaving Certificate Information

Dear Parents/Guardians, Students

As you are aware the Leaving Cert 2020 has been replaced with a calculated grade system where all students will receive a calculated grade in each subject from the Department of Education and Science. In order to support the delivery of the calculated grades, students will have to register through what is called a Calculated Grades Student Portal.

We received this afternoon confirmation from the DES that the portal will open at 10am on Tuesday 26th May and will close at 10pm on Thursday 28th May. This online system, the Calculated Grades Student Portal, is available to students through www.gov.ie/leavingcertificate. All Leaving Certificate students must complete the Registration Process and must confirm their Subject Levels before 10 p.m. on Thursday 28 May. It is important that students follow the advice that their teachers would have already provided them in relation to their levels. The Department of Education has prohibited any contact between students and teachers so teachers will not be in a positon to provide any further advice to their students as to the level they should take.

Below for your information is a link to “letter for students” and a ‘Before you Start’ student guide issued by the DES which I urge you to read very carefully.

To register students will need their Examination Number and PIN. The PIN will be the first 4 digits of the students PPSN. The school can be contacted tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday between 10.am and 4pm if students need their examination number or their PPSN number. If a student does not have access to a smart phone or computer, please contact the school to discuss how we can accommodate you.

Furthermore, any student who has been studying an additional subject outside of school must email me the name of the subject and the contact details of their teacher or tutor to principal@ccn.ie On the separate issue of students who have been receiving grinds, unfortunately, in this new process there is no space for input from grinds teachers.

Kind regards,

Colm Ó Corcora
